On
Sunday, September 11,2005, First Parish UU held a Hurricane Katrina Relief
Lasagna Supper. We raised $1,500 to be donated to the American Red
Cross. Thank you to everyone who made lasagna, salad, and desserts,
brought drinks and bread, and helped on the afternoon and evening
of the supper.
The efforts to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina have spurred
the UUA to partner with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee
to establish a relief fund. As of September 18, 2005, the relief
fund has received $1,168,311. The UU churches in that area are in
the Southwest and Mid-South Districts. All funds received will be
distributed under the auspices of these 2 districts and will be
used for hurricane relief and for the UU congregations in those
two districts so that their ministries in their communities can
be restored. If you wish to know about this UU effort, you may go
to the UUA website, www.uua.org. and click
on to Gulf Relief. They would welcome contributions from all of
us. If you would like to donate, send checks payable to the "UUA-UUSC
Gulf Coast Relief Fund" to:
