First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Kennebunk is a small, welcoming liberal religious community seeking a skilled pianist to provide music for Sunday worship on an as-needed, per-service basis. This is an ideal role for a musician who wants flexible, occasional engagements rather than a standing weekly commitment.
Job Summary: The Accompanist provides piano (and/or organ) music for Sunday morning worship and select special services as needed, working with the Minister and Music/Choir Director to support a cohesive worship experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide live piano accompaniment for Sunday services on assigned dates.
- Play appropriate hymns and musical offerings selected in consultation with the Minister.
- Communicate promptly if unable to play an assigned date, so a substitute can be arranged.
Qualifications
- Music background with proficiency in piano performance; organ experience a plus.
- Ability to sight-read and adapt to a range of musical styles (classical, traditional, contemporary).
- Comfortable working with a Minister, choir, and volunteers in a collaborative worship setting.
- Willingness to represent inclusive liberal religious values in music selection.
