Our choir sits, eager to sing.

Music

Music is an important part of life at First Parish UU Church. Most services feature live music, both instrumental and vocal. The Sanctuary includes a fine Hook & Hastings organ and grand piano. Since services are currently hybrid (both in-person and on Zoom) a video or recording oftentimes enhances the worship theme. One Sunday you might hear classical organ or piano pieces and traditional hymns; the next worship service might be full of swinging gospel tunes and spirituals. You might hear a blues or jazz prelude, or folk songs. There are modern compositions and even pop or rock. On other Sundays you might hear guest musicians playing instruments from guitars to Uilleann pipes.

First Parish UU Choir

Our choir sings during the Sunday Service once per month, and rehearsals are held Thursday evenings at 5p.m. Music Director Chris Staknys leads the choir in songs ranging in genre from classical, to musical theater, to world music. Current members report that choir rehearsals are the highlight of their week, giving them a sense of being a part of something greater than themselves. Singers of all levels are welcome.
